{detailed description}The Bell 'Huey' series of helicopters totally transformed the world of aviation and fundamentally altered the nature of battlefield operations. The basic Model 204 was a truly multi-role utility helicopter which combined a capacious fuselage with newly-developed turboshaft powerplant. The development potential of this design was such that there soon emerged large and upgraded variants such as the Model 205, the twin-engine Model 212 and the definitive Model 214. Simultaneously, Bell pioneered the concept of the attack helicopter with the classic Model 209 Cobra series derived from the 'Huey' utility helicopter. All these basic types have gone into world-wide service in a host of civil and military applications. Illustrated with dramatic and informative photographs, this book traces the history and development of one of the world's most exciting modern aircraft.
